WAKILI helps vulnerable women and men to sustainably develop their income-generating activity and improve the well-being of their families, with particular attention to people with disabilities or living with HIV.
In Guinea, the poorest, especially women, went to school very little. They are poorly qualified and have very difficulty accessing paid and stable employment. So, to earn a living, they suffer! Overnight, they start a small street business, a workshop or return to the land. But, without access to capital and training, they have difficulty developing and maintaining this activity. To succeed in what they do, leave the survival economy and look forward to the future, they need capital and training.
In 2016, Entrepreneurs of the World created WAKILI, which means “Will, Perseverance”, to support these vulnerable and enterprising women and men, to help them sustainably develop their income-generating activity and improve the well-being of their families. The WAKILI team pays particular attention to people with disabilities or living with HIV.
The team offers micro-entrepreneurs financial services (credit, savings) and socio-economic services (training, individualized support, social referencing, agricultural technical support). WAKILI is the only social microfinance institution in Guinea to grant loans without guarantees or solidarity or personal guarantees, to offer the opening of a savings account without prior costs and to remunerate this savings.
Thanks to its individual responsibility group methodology, WAKILI also promotes the circular economy in villages by connecting buyers and producers.
